Colonel F. G. D'Utassy, 39th New York Infantry, also known as Giribaldi Guard. One website says the 39th NY Infantry was also sometimes called Lincoln's Foreign Legion due to the high content of Hungarians, Germans, Italians Portuguese and a myriad of nationalities.
