U.S. Navy Battleship U.S.S. Texas in dry dock, between 1895 and 1901. USS Texas was a second-class battleship built between 1889 and 1895. She had an active role in U.S. Navy operations around Cuba during May-July 1898, participating in the 3 July 1898 battle off Santiago that destroyed Spain's naval forces in the Western Hemisphere.
